Mayor Hines Appointed to the National League of Cities’ Small Cities Council!
NLC – Richard Hines, Mayor for the Town of Winterville, has been appointed to the National League of Cities (NLC) 2025 Small Cities Council. Mayor Hines was appointed to a one-year term to develop and guide programs among local elected officials from similar communities. The appointment was announced by NLC President Steve Patterson, Mayor of Athens, Ohio.

Due to the extreme cold weather event, you can help reduce your energy bill by setting your thermostat to 68 degrees, if your health allows. Regionally, Power Companies are asking customers to conserve energy, to reduce the load on the energy grid and transmission lines. Please make sure you turn off any unneeded lights, appliances, or devices that are not critical. The Town’s electric outage phone number is 252-902-6328.
Also, please ensure that you do not have any exposed water pipes. Please try to make sure they are covered and insulated. Frozen pipes and water lines can be a problem during extreme winter weather events. Also, please be on the lookout for leaks after the temperatures climbs back above freezing, and the frozen pipes thaw. The Town’s Water and Sewer emergency number is 252-902-6327.
