The Town of Winterville will be making several changes to the services provided for Solid Waste, Recycling, and Debris collection . Many of the changes are due to new contracts that will allow the town to better service the citizens and eliminate many of the issues that have occurred historically . This includes all new routes for garbage collection, as well as, reducing recycling collection to every other week, and ending the construction debris route. The Town sought to make improvements and find ways to make sur e the Sanitation Department was financially solvent, with the least amount of impact on the majority of our citizens. Please read. this information carefully as there are a lot of changes. Below you will find details about the changes. You will also find maps that show what new route you will be assigned to, and your new garbage and recycling pick up days.
There are rate changes that reflect the need to reduce the funding shortages the town was experiencing. The new monthly rate for sanitation collection increased by $3.50. The new rate is $15.00 and includes Weekly garbage collection, biweekly recycling collection, limb removal, grass removal, leaf removal, bulky items, and street sweeping. The new rates will be effective July 1st, 2024.

- New garbage routes will begin on Monday July 8th. New recycling routes will begin on July 15th.
- There will be no recycling routes run on the week of July 8th. This will be the first off week.
- Containers will be picked up on the same day of the week. On weeks that have both garbage and recycling you will need to pull both containers out.
- Please review the changes to what can be recycled. Many of the items that are thrown in the recycling bins are not allowed and will be considered contamination by the recycling processor. It is important to only include the allowed items in your recycling rollout . Never place garbage in your recycling container . See included flyer for more details.
- Also included are updated route maps for limbs, grass, and bulky items.
Construction Debris Changes:
As of July 1, 2024, The Town of Winterville will no longer be providing Bi-monthly Construction Debris Pickup. Construction debris will only be picked up on the second Thursday of each month after a prepaid $175 fee. To schedule a pickup, citizens will need to contact customer service and prepay at (252)-756 -2221 Ext. 8009
Construction Debris Items Include:
Building materials, carpet, roofing materials, lumber, siding materials, insulation, wall material, bricks, concrete, ceiling material, plumbing materials, etc. Construction debris may not be mixed with Bulky Items or any other Solid Waste Material. Town policy provides that only construction debris generated by the homeowner or resident of a property will be collect ed. Therefore; the town will not collect Contractor Generated Debris.
Additional Changes:
Tire pickup will also be on the Second Thursday of each month but will require a prepaid $10 fee per t ire. To schedule a pickup , citizens will need to contact customer service and prepay.
Tires must be removed from the rim.
